Alex Brown to retire as a Bear

A fan-favorite in Chicago and one of the all-time "good guys" to play for the Bears will make one last appearance in the navy and orange.

According to a report from the Chicago Tribune's Brad Biggs, Alex Brown will sign a one-year deal with the Bears and retire with the team on Thursday:
Bears have signed DE Alex Brown to a 1-year contract. He will retire a Bear on Thursday. Brad Biggs (@BradBiggs) August 8, 2012The situation is similar to what the Bears did in the past with Marcus Robinson and the recent signingretirement of LaDainian Tomlinson with the Chargers.

Brown, was originally selected out of the University of Florida by the Bears with the 104th overall pick in the fourth-round of the 2002 NFL Draft. In eight seasons with the Bears, Brown registered 310 tackles, 43.5 sacks, five interceptions and 40 passes deflected.

After leaving Chicago, Brown spent one year with the Saints before being released by the team on Aug. 30, 2011.
