Role reversals can sometimes be awkward when the boss and staffer switch jobs. The Jacksonville Jaguars and new head coach Gus Bradley arent worried.
Bradley worked with former Bears coach Bob Babich for six years at North Dakota State. Babich was head coach, Bradley his defensive coordinator.
Now Bradley is field boss and Babich his defensive coordinator after Babichs hiring last week to replace Mel Tucker, who took the same post with the Bears.
The Jaguars defense was 30th in yards and tied for 29th in points allowed last year. Bradley, the former Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator, had success of his own and also wanted what Babich was part of building in Chicago.
Chicagos defense was really good this year fifth overall and just watching them on tape, I was very impressed with their style, Bradley said via Ryan OHalloran at the Florida Times-Unions Jacksonville.com. Our philosophies mesh and the terminology is very similar. Its another great addition.
Babich was elevated to Bears D-coordinator in 2007 after the exit of Ron Rivera and served in that role for three seasons.
Ive grown being around former coordinator Rod Marinelli and the rest of the Bears coaching staff, Babich said. Ive become not only a better coach but a better person so Im excited and ready to go.
