Tackle Gabe Carimi, whose knee injury in the second quarter of the second game (at New Orleans) last season was the first domino of turmoil along the Bears offensive front, was in a jersey watching practice in last weeks start of organized team activities (OTAs).

As the second week got underway, the young right tackle appears to be taking a little more active part in sessions:

First day Back at practice went great. Just need to keep up the hard work to get back where I want to be, Carimi tweeted on Tuesday.

CSNChicago.com chatted with Carimi at the Bears Care Gala earlier this month and he was saying then that he would be back for work in this offseason, before the start of training camp.

But until linemen and others put on pads and begin working in earnest as well as high heat, any expressions of optimism are limited indicators. Brian Urlacher took part in some position work during week ones OTAs but not in the sessions that involved coverage or run support.

Carimi wont be rushed, and the true measure of his return wont be apparent until late July down in Bourbonnais.
