Scott Krinch

Travis Frederick (C), Wisconsin

6-4 | 312 lbs.

Projection:

2nd Round

Strengths:

Extremely powerful with great upper-body strength. Has the ability to play both the center and guard positions. Exceptional at getting out to the second level. Great technique and doesn't have any durability issues. Anchors well against the rush. Smart, will adjust at the line according to the defense's positioning. Comes from a Wisconsin program that has produced a plethora of NFL offensive lineman.

Weaknesses:

Doesn't have elite athleticism and must improve on his quickness. Gets beat too easily by speed rushers coming through on the inside. Needs to improve in pass protection. A bit of a tweener as scouts don't know what position on the line he will play at the next level.

Fit for the Bears:

Bears general manager Phil Emery has improved the team's depth on the interior this offseason with the signings of Matt Slauson and Eben Britton. Though, with Roberto Garza at the age of 34, Chicago needs to find their heir apparent at center. Frederick could be had in the second round and plays with the intensity that could make him an instant fan favorite in Chicago and anchor the team's line for the next ten years.
