Tony Andracki

Jordan Poyer (CB), Oregon State

6-0 | 191 lbs

2012 Stats:

51 tackles, 5 TFL, 2 scks, 14 PD, 1 FF, Frec

Projection:

3rd round

Strengths

Not the fastest corner, but boasts good closing speed. Hard-nosed, disciplined defensive back that plays stronger than his 191-pound frame. Is a fiery leader and takes good angles both in coverage and in pursuit of the ball-carrier. He can hold his own on special teams and in the return game.

Weaknesses

Small and a little slow, lacking the natural speed and burst some of the elite corners display. Can be overaggressive at times and needs to refine his tackling technique. Character issues are a concern after an arrest last May following a bar fight. Had some issues in the return game with muffing punts.

Fit for Bears

The Bears currently lack a third-round pick, so they would have to take Poyer either in the second round or hope he falls to the fourth or later. Of course, the Bears could still trade down and acquire a third-round pick. Poyer's ability to provide coverage on special teams is a big advantage in his favor. The Bears could also use fresh blood at cornerback, as Charles Tillman (32) is getting up there in age.
