Defensive tackle Amobi Okoye wasnt satisfied with how 2011 played out. No Bear was. But in his first Bears season after four as a Houston Texan, Okoye has found a situation enough to his liking that hed considering paying a little something to hold onto it.

Okoye is an unrestricted free agent after signing a one-year deal last offseason to play for coach Lovie Smith and coordinator Rod Marinelli. Playing part-time, he finished with 4 sacks, 27 quarterback pressures and 27 tackles and his arrow was clearly pointing up with coaches as the season was winding down.

I love the city, everything, Okoye said, then launched into an impassioned assessment of the Bears defensive scheme. Its not a good fit. Its a perfect fit. Everything here isnt good; its perfect. Perfect system for me, perfect guys to play with.

He is expecting a multi-year offer from the Bears with the understanding that he can then shop his talents on the market but that the Bears definitely want him in 2012 and beyond.

So would he consider a home-town discount to stay with players and a system he loves?

You know what? Okoye said. I would actually consider that. Without a doubt.

Not exactly hardball negotiating but how refreshing is it to hear someone up front with exactly how they feel and what they want?
