Multiple outlets are reporting that the Philadelphia Eagles and Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly met following the BCS Championship game, and that there is mutual interest between the two to fill the organization's vacant head coaching position. The news was first reported by Philadelphia Enquirer'sJeff McLane.
The Eagles, who fired head coach Andy Reid after 14 seasons, are set to interview Lovie Smith sometime this week.
Kelly has been the head coach at Notre Dame for three seasons, most recently helping the Irish to a No. 1 overall ranking and trip to the BCS Championship game, where they lost to Nick Saban and Alabama, 42-14. The Irish finished the season ranked No. 4 in the country with a 12-1 record.
CBS NFL Insider Jason La Canfora also said the Bears have interest in Kelly.

After Black Monday, when seven NFL head coaches were fired the day after the completion of the regular season, Oregon head coach Chip Kelly took his name out of the running after meeting with the Eagles and Browns. Saban also said he would not be leaving the Crimson Tide for the NFL.
For what it's worth, Kelly insisted he was happy at Notre Dame.
When I took the job at Notre Dame, I think I said it was a dream job," Kelly explained Saturday at media day before the National Championship. "But I never went around day to day anything about being the Notre Dame head coach, because the job that I had in hand was what I was thinking about. And I think that's the same thing with the NFL.
"I think from my perspective I've got the best job in the country, NFL, college, high school, whatever. I just look at the place that I'm at and thankful for the opportunity that I have."
The Eagles aren't holding their breath, either.
