Apparently, you need more than just a helmet and shoulder pads to participate in organized team activities.

Bears first round pick Kyle Long will not be able to participate in OTAs coming up this spring because he will not have finished his final exams at Oregon in time. The Bears are scheduled to have their OTAs start between May 13 and June 6, but Oregon's exams do not end until June 14.

Long isn't alone in the NFC North. UCLA products Jeff Locke (Vikings), Jeff Baca (Vikings) and Johnathan Franklin (Packers) will also be ineligible for their teams OTAs because of UCLA's late final exam date. Datone Jones, another former Bruin and the Packers' first round pick, will be eligible for OTAs because he has already graduated from the university.

Long will still be able to participate in the rookie camp this weekend and will be eligible for mandatory mini-camp in June.
