NFL.com came out with the next 10 of its Top 100 players in the NFL this week and Brian Urlacher comes in at 51st a nice little touch of unintended nice symmetry, given that the No. 51 belonged to the Chicago Bears middle linebacker with whom Urlacher is most often compared.

Its worth a look. The commentary from players like Charles Tillman (who belongs on any Top 100 list but probably will be overlooked as he has been for too much of his career) and others, plus video-with-Urlacher-sound, are excellent insights into some of the things you dont always see with 54.

Hes a character, says Tampa Bay center Jeff Faine.

And as far as the clichd age thing catching up with Urlacher, he is still able to make plays on the ball like he did when he was a rookie, Tillman says, adding a fun anecdote about his brother and an Urlacher jersey.

Interesting footnote: The site provides space for voting Underrated or Overrated. Urlacher was pegged as the most overrated player in the NFL while he was in his true prime. Now hes logged 872 votes as Underrated. Go figure.

Be careful if you check out the next-ranked player, Denver rush linebacker Von Miller. A couple of Miller highlights are him taking down Marion Barber and sacking Caleb Hanie in the eminently forgettable Bears-Broncos game last year.
