Patrick Kane said he heard from plenty of friends after his spin-o-rama assist on Marian Hossas goal on Tuesday night. But the biggest came from former Blackhawks great and current ambassador Denis Savard.

Kane wouldnt divulge what Savard said but it meant a lot to him.

It was definitely pretty special. Savys the one who created that move, he said. Sometimes you dont realize what the plays going to develop into. That highlights been in a lot of places.

When coach Joel Quenneville was asked if Savard ever put that spin-o-rama on him during his playing days, the former defenseman said, he might have tried it.

The Blackhawks will host Hockey Fights Cancer Awareness night on Saturday when they host the Columbus Blue Jackets. Lawson Frank, a 13-year-old from Geneva who is battling the rare childhood cancer Rhabdomyosarcoma, will perform the ceremonial puck drop before the game.

With the Blackhawks playing three games in four days, beginning Friday with the Carolina Hurricanes, Quenneville said Ray Emery will likely start one of them.

The Blackhawks edged the Ducks in hits on Tuesday night, 25-22.
