CTL breaks down Kane's successful season
Patrick Kane is no stranger when it comes to delivering a strong performance at the start of the season. But his 2013 performance can be put in a category of it's own.
The Blackhawks right winger leads his team with a whopping 19 points in 12 games. Six of those points were delivered in the last week during matchups against the Sharks, Coyotes and Predators.
Kane posted two goals -- including the game-winner -- in San Jose, two in Phoenix and one in Nashville. He led the league in goals for the week of Feb. 2 - 10, and has now been named the NHL's No. 1 Star of the Week.
So far, Corey Crawford is the only other Hawk to make the list during the abbreviated season and was named the NHL's No. 2 star for the week of Jan. 20 - 27.
Joining Kane on this week's list are Stars left winger Jamie Benn and Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur.
Benn holds the No. 2 spot after recording two goals and four assists throughout the Stars' last three games, including a pair of game-winning goals and a helper in overtime to lead Dallas to three consecutive wins.
Brodeur won each of his previous three starts in net and played his 1,200th NHL game on Feb. 9. The New Jersey netminder recorded a 1.33 goals-against average and a .942 save percentage to earn the honor of being named the NHL's third star.
