Keep shifts short at altitude
When you aren’t living and practicing at a mile high altitude, it makes a difference when you exert yourself. The key to this is to keep your shifts short. Colorado tries to take advantage of this -- eight of their 10 wins have come at home. They know when they have you on the ropes, so don’t extend your shifts.
Your PK can help stop this Avalanche
The last time these two teams played, the Blackhawks allowed two power-play goals by Colorado and have given up seven power-play goals in their last four contests. They had given up a total of nine power-play goals in their previous 24 games of the season. They have to right this penalty killing ship, and it should start against the 25th ranked power play in the league.
Tight Gaps mean Good “D”
The last four periods of hockey have been outstanding for the Chicago Blackhawks defensively. They have given up a total of 22 shots. That’s about five per period, on the road no less. Their gap control and back pressure have been fantastic. Forwards back checking with a purpose and defensemen closing the gap on the oncoming opposition. It makes for a lot of broken plays.
