An 18-man roster consideration forthe U.S. men's basketball team for the2012Summer Gameswill be decided byJan. 18,but there's a twist. According to an ESPN report the new team will combine rosters from the 2008 Olympic team and the 2010 FIBA Wolrd Championships team that won gold. What does this mean? Chicago Bulls power forward Carlos Boozer will be ruled out of consideration and Los Angles Clippers forward Blake Griffin will be the only fresh face on the squad. Those up for consideration will include Derrick Rose, Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Russell Westbrook, LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Carmelo Angthony. The report also said that those ruled out will not only include Boozer but Tayshaun Prince, Michael Reed and Jason Kidd. Chairman of USA Basketball's Board of Directors Jerry Colangelo told ESPN, "We have so much talent right now, the pool is extraordinary. We've created a situation where players now desire to be a part of it and so now we have a different set of issues. Now we have more playes than a roster can call for." The final 12-man roster and six alternates will be submitted by June 18. What do you think of the new policy? If you were in charge, who wouldyou want onthe U.S. Olympic team?
