Brewer to start vs. Pacers Friday

The NBA is ready to roll and the Bulls preseason, as short as it will be, begins Friday against the Indiana Pacers. Fans are anxiously waiting the debut of new acquisition Rip Hamilton but for now, they'll have to wait a little bit longer.

According to a tweet by CSNChicago.com's Aggrey Sam, Ronnie Brewer will start for the Bulls Friday.

Aggrey Sam Thibs: Ronnie will start at 2 tonight
Dec 16 via txtFavoriteRetweetReply

"Ronnie is starting (Friday), but I also want to see Ronnie with the second unit some," coach Tom Thibodeau told the Chicago Tribune. "That group played extremely well. We want to look at some different combinations."

Brewer contributed to what became known as the "Bench Mob" along side C.J. Watson, Kyle Korver, Omer Asik and Taj Gibson last season but has been pushing to earn that starting role.

He told the Tribune last week, "I feel like Thibs can feel confident wherever he puts me in the game. Whatever we've got to do to win, I'm all about that. But me as a player, I've got to do everything I possibly can to put myself in a situation where I can go out there and contribute."

What do you think of Thibodeau's decision to start Brewer Friday? Do you think he'll earn the No. 1 spot or are you just ready to see Hamilton hit the court?

Horace Grant on current state of Bulls: 'No need to panic'

After the Bulls got off to a 3-0 start, it looked like this would be a team that might be able to give LeBron James and the defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers a run for their money in the Eastern Conference.

The Bulls proceeded to lose their next three, tempering those optimistic expectations. What those first six games proved is that they're an inconsistent bunch, and it's been a microcosm of their season past the halfway mark.

[SHOP: Gear up, Bulls fans!]

Entering Thursday, the Bulls were slotted in as the No. 8 seed in the East with a 21-22 record through 43 games.

Former Bulls forward/center Horace Grant, who was named a special advisor to president and chief operating officer Michael Reinsdorf last year, joined SportsTalk Live on Thursday to talk about the team's current state, and why Bulls fans shouldn't panic just yet.
