Return of the ‘White Mamba': Bulls re-sign Scalabrine

The White Mamba is back!

The Bulls re-signed fan favorite Brian Scalabrine Monday afternoon to an undisclosed contract.

Scalabrine earned the nickname "The White Mamba" after Kobe Bryant's "Black Mamba" nickname took the basketball world by storm. The 6-foot-9, 235-pound forward has became very popular during his one year in Chicago and every time he took the court late in the game, fans started "MVP" chants and began deeming his arrival on the hardwood as "The Victory Formation."

Fans will be treated to more of the same in the 2011-12 season.

Scalabrine is a Tom Thibodeau favorite dating back to their Boston days and though he played sparingly (just 4.9 minutes per game in 18 contests last season), he was still a vital part of the Bulls' team chemistry.

Chicago's roster now stands at 12 players, though Rip Hamilton's seemingly impending signing could bump that up very soon.
