MEMPHISBulls point guard Derrick Rose, currently sidelined by a sprained left big toe, was named the Eastern Conference player of the week, the NBA announced Monday.
In five games, Rose, who suffered the injury in Tuesdays win at Minnesota, averaged 24 points and 9.3 assists per contest and led the Bulls to an undefeated mark.
Rose recorded two double-doubles31 points and 11 assists against the Timberwolves and 18 points and 11 assists in Saturdays home victory over the Raptorsfor the Bulls, who had the leagues best record heading into Saturday.
Lakers shooting guard Kobe Bryant was named the Western Conference player of the week for a body of work that included three 40-point performances.
Bryant leads the league in scoring at 32 points per game.
