Derrick Rose received a third-place vote for the 2011-2012 NBA MVP, placing him 10th in this season's voting. LeBron James took home the award for the third time in his career, coming a year after Rose garnered the honor.

With five points, but a third-place vote, Rose finished above Dwayne Wade (6 points), Russell Westbrook (4 points), Dirk Nowitzki (4 points), Tim Duncan (3 points) and Joe Johnson (1 point). Rose joined James, Kevin Durant, Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant, Tony Parker, Kevin Love and Dwight Howard among those who received a third-place vote.

Rose played in only 39 games this season, averaging 21.8 points per game (down about 3 points from his 2010-2011 average) with 7.9 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game as well. Of course, Rose played hobbled for much of the season, which contributed to his career-low shooting percentage of .435.
