MESA, Ariz. Addressing their most immediate need, the Cubs have signed veteran reliever Shawn Camp to a minor-league deal. The 36-year-old right-hander, who was released by the Seattle Mariners last week, is expected to compete for a bullpen spot.

Camp reported to HoHoKam Stadium on Monday, eight days before the team will leave Arizona and fly to Chicago, but theres still an opportunity here for someone this experienced.

Camp spent the past four seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays, going 15-13 overall with a 3.63 ERA in 236 games out of the bullpen.

Two seasons ago Darling and Raanta battled for the Blackhawks’ backup spot. Friday marked their first head-to-head matchup, and it was stellar.

The Blackhawks thought they broke the scoreless tie six minutes into the third period, when Marian Hossa got one past Raanta. But the Rangers challenged for offside and officials agreed, nullifying the goal.
