On Saturday morning, the Cubs announced right-handed pitcher Carlos Marmol has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right hamstring strain. Casey Coleman has been called up from Triple-A Iowa.
Coleman has gone 2-3 with a 3.48 ERA in seven games with Iowa this season. He's limited opponents to a .205 batting average, walking only 16 batters while striking out 30.
Coleman has played in 31 major league games for the Cubs, going 7-11 with a 5.48 ERA. Last season he went 3-9 in 17 starts.
Marmol had made 15 relief appearances this season with Chicago, recording a 6.35 ERA.
