Maddux not likely to take Cubs job

While it is not yet a done deal, it appears Mike Maddux is not going to pursue the Cubs job despite the fact he was very intrigued by the opportunity and was very highly thought of by Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer. Family considerations appear to be keeping him in Texas where he is the pitching coach for the World Series runner-up Rangers.

At the same time, the Cubs are highly impressed with Dale Sveum and there is a strong chance he could be the next manager.

While they would like to get this done sooner rather than later, the Thanksgiving holiday could delay a decision or expedite the announcement. Stay tuned.
