The White Sox claimed left-handed hitting first baseman Lars Anderson off waivers from the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday.
Formerly the Boston Red Sox top prospect in 2009, according to Baseball America, Anderson spent most of last season in the minors for Boston and the Cleveland Indians. He was 1-for-8 in six games for the Red Sox and was traded to the Indians on July 31.
Cleveland sent Anderson and two other minor-leaguers to the Arizona Diamondbacks in Decemeber in a deal that sent Trevor Bauer to the Indians. Arizona designated Anderson, an 18th round pick of the Red Sox in 2006, for assignment last Friday.
The White Sox 40-man roster is now full.
