The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame are some of biggest die-hard fans in the country.
Fans go to great lengths to dress in as much Irish apparel as they can on gameday to show their support of Brian Kelly's group. And now, beginning in August, fans not only can look like an ND fan...they can smell like one, too.
The Cloudbreak Group, New York, which first introduced a New York Yankees fragrance last spring, will introduce a Notre Dame-licensed fragrance in campus bookstores prior to the upcoming football season.
Cloudbreak Group President Tom Butkiewicz told Sports Business Journal that the fragrance will be "similar" in cost to the Yankees fragrance, which sold at $60 for a 3.4-ounce bottle.
“Notre Dame’s got this appeal way beyond just football fans,” Butkiewicz told SBJ. “It also has a lot of global reach."
Cloudbreak Group has since rolled out products featuring the logos of the Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers and Texas Rangers. More unique scents are on their way, too, as the Chicago Cubs, Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants will each receive their own fragrance for the holiday season.
“You look for authenticity, tradition, national appeal and a team brand that translates well to products outside of sports," Butkiewicz added.
