Former White Sox outfielder Bo Jackson announced during a press conference Wednesday, May 1, that he will be hosting his first Youth, High School and College Football Coaches Clinic June 8 and 9.
Jackson is committed to providing a positive environment for today's youth with emphasis on encouraging young ones to make the right decisions on and off the field. A strong portion of the two day clinic will be focused on education in addition to coaches and, players presentations.
"Offering this opportunity to youth, high school and college coaches is so important, Jackson said, because they are in constant contact with our young people and do play a prominent role in the athletes' lives."
Former NFL players and coaches will be featured keynote speakers at the summer clinic. Speakers will include: former Steeler, Oliver Gibson; Jason Raynor, former strength and conditioning coach of the Washington Redskins; Jermaine Hampton, former safety at Northern Illinois University; J.R. Niklos of the St. Louis Rams and more. These players and coaches will speak on topics ranging from the run and pass techniques for defensive lineman, non-traditional training strategies, core and neck strengthening, as well as sharing personal testimonies. In addition, Tom Walsher, former quarterback and wide receiver coach, and offensive coordinator for the Raiders will give a presentation surrounding the development of a passing quarterback.
