GLENDALE, Ariz. -- White Sox third baseman Jeff Keppinger has been scratched from Sunday’s lineup with a slight shoulder irritation.
Keppinger could appear in the White Sox lineup as a designated hitter on Monday, but he won’t throw again until Wednesday.
Keppinger, whose throwing program was delayed this offseason because of a broken fibula, has appeared in eight games this spring, including a handful in the field. Because he was behind schedule to start, Keppinger’s first three games played were as the team’s DH.
Keppinger has had no issues at the plate or running the bases this spring.
Keppinger, who signed a three-year, $12-million deal in December, is 10-for-21 (.476) with three runs and a stolen base.
Connor Gillaspie, who the White Sox acquired from the San Francisco Giants last month, is playing in Keppinger's place.
