Ninety-one years ago, “Black Sox” decision was handed down

August 2nd holds special meaning in White Sox history.

On this date in 1921, the eight members of the "Black Sox" -- a group of men suspected of throwing the 1919 World Series -- were acquitted of the accusations.

The jury took just shy of three hours to deliberate before finding Eddie Cicotte, "Shoeless Joe" Jackson and six others not guilty.

However, the next day, Kenesaw Mountain Landis -- the first commissioner in baseball history, sporting quite possibly the coolest name in the game's history -- banned all eight players from professional baseball for life in spite of the jury's decision.
