Report: White Sox call up Jordan Danks

According to Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune, the White Sox have called up Jordan Danks from Triple-A Charlotte to replace Kosuke Fukudome, who's been dealing with a ribcage injury since Sunday. Presumably, Fukudome will land on the disabled list -- a move manager Robin Ventura hinted at on Wednesday. Danks is expected to be in Chicago for Thursday's series finale against Toronto.

Danks will have to be added to the 40-man roster, which will sit at 38 when the move becomes official. Yesterday, the White Sox outrighted infielder Ozzie Martinez, removing him from the 40-man roster.

During his third season with Triple-A Charlotte Danks was outstanding, hitting .302.417.503 with seven home runs and five stolen bases. Swings and misses continue to be an issue for the little brother of John Danks, but he lowered his strikeout rate from 29 percent in 2011 to 25 percent in 2012 while walking in 17 percent of his plate appearances.

Danks has been drafted by the White Sox twice -- first as a 19th-round pick in 2005, and second as a seventh-round selection in 2008 after he completed a three-year tenure at the University of Texas.
