CLEVELAND -- Alex Rios’ hitting streak ended Saturday but it wasn’t for a lack of good at-bats.
The White Sox outfielder hit the ball hard twice and reached on an error but wound up hitless in four at-bats in Saturday’s loss. It was the first time this season Rios hasn’t had a hit and snapped a 16-game hitting streak that dated back to last September.
Rios is hitting .372 with four homers and eight RBIs this season.
“I didn’t expect it to go for a long time,” Rios said. “I had two good at-bats and I believe I’m where I want to be and that’s the most important thing. It would be nice to keep that streak going, but it had to end at some point so I’m glad I took great at-bats.”
