DKnoblerSergio Santos on White Sox winter: "I guess rebuilding was just moving me and Q Carlos Quentin out of the way."

This re-visits a point that I made a few times this offseason: The White Sox didn't rebuild. Rebuilding would've meant dealing away players without ready replacements -- for instance, trading away Alexei Ramirez for prospects and replacing him with Eduardo Escobar would've been a true rebuilding move.

Trading Sergio Santos and replacing him with Addison Reed, at some point at least, wasn't a rebuilding move. Trading Carlos Quentin to make way for Dayan Viciedo wasn't a rebuilding move. Even letting Mark Buehrle go wasn't a rebuilding move, because it allowed Chris Sale to enter the rotation.

All the Sox were trying to do in the offseason was re-stock a farm system that had grown pretty barren. And they were able to do that to some extent by trading away guys with replacements who were ready to take over. That doesn't sound like rebuilding to me.
