The White Sox are hopeful a three-day rest will improve A.J. Pierzynskis health.

Pierzynski sat out Tuesdays 11-4 victory with a minor right oblique strain and will also miss Wednesdays game, manager Robin Ventura said.

Pierzynski, who is among the leaders in most offensive categories for American League catchers, hopes to return Friday.

He said the afflicted area bothered him recently, but not enough to keep him out of the lineup.

Pierzysnki has played in 83 of the White Sox 97 games this season.

It's been kind of bothering me for a while and I've just been playing with it and (Monday) I took a swing and it just kind of sparked up a little bit," Pierzynski said. "I hope so. I think so. I got treatment all day (Tuesday). I'll get treatment all day again (Wednesday). Thursday, we'll see what happens, but I'm certainly hoping for Friday."
