White Sox morning roundup

White Sox morning roundup

From yesterday:

US Presswire did some triple-exposure shots during the game, which produced this great photo of Addison Reed.

The White Sox fell behind early as John Danks struggled yet again, but Dayan Viciedo collected four unanswered RBIs on a two-run homer and a two-run single to put the Sox ahead for good in a 7-5 win. Zach Stewart, Hector Santiago, Matt Thornton and Addison Reed combined to throw six huge shutout innings in relief.

With Monday's victory over Detroit, the White Sox have a chance to break a six-series winless streak in which they're 0-5-1. Of course, the two-game series this week in Chicago against Detroit and in Anaheim against the Angels creates a pretty lousy travel scenario for the Sox, who return home Friday to face the Cubs at Wrigley Field.

Jesse Crain should be back with the White Sox today. He hasn't pitched in the majors since April 20 after suffering a strained left oblique.

I dropped the White Sox out of the top 20 in this week's MLB power rankings, which have Texas leading the pack once again.

Around the division: Naturally, Bruce Chen shut down the Rangers over 6 23 innings as the Royals beat Texas 3-1, Danny Duffy looks like he'll need Tommy John surgery, Shin-Soo Choo's ninth-inning single dropped the Twins to 10-25 and former Mark Buehrle nemesis Ryan Garko was killing it in Indy ball before Tampa Bay signed him to a minor-league deal.
