White Sox morning roundup

From yesterday:

Offense! The Sox jumped out to an early 4-0 lead and blasts by Alejandro De Aza and A.J. Pierzynski put away a 10-6 win over Cleveland to sweep the rain-shortened two-game series. John Danks didn't do much after being spotted with some rare run support, but it didn't matter as the lefty earned his first win of the season (further proof: pitcher records mean squat).

De Aza's home run was the second of the season for the Sox leadoff hitter, which is as many as Juan Pierre had in 2011. So, needless to say, the whole "semi-powerful leadoff hitter" thing is a nice change of pace.

Brent Morel had an odd day: 0-3, one walk, three runs scored. That puts him in the same grouping as Willie Harris, Jim Thome and Ray Durham among Sox players since 2000.

Jim has an outstanding take on Ozzie Guillen -- the best I've read from any writer offering up a Chicago-centric commentary on the former manager.

Around the division: The Indians are signing Johnny Damon, Jonathan Broxton imploded in Kansas City's loss to Oakland, Justin Verlander was dealt his first loss since midway through 2011 and, no joke, Minnesota actually won a game. Also of note: Josh Willingham has three home runs for the Twins.
