The White Sox placed Jesse Crain on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left oblique -- not the same injury he suffered in spring training -- prior to Friday's game against Boston. That spring training injury was a strained right oblique, and it kept him out for a good portion of Cactus League play. Dylan Axelrod was promoted from Charlotte to take his spot on the roster.
Crain hadn't pitched since April 20 and has only thrown seven innings this season. He's struck out at least one batter in each of his six appearances and has recorded two strikeouts four times.
Axelrod has been great in Charlotte, walking four with 26 strikeouts and a 1.08 ERA over 25 innings.
