White Sox set weekend rotation

MINNEAPOLIS -- Gavin Floyd will pitch Saturday against the Los Angles Angels, White Sox manager Robin Ventura announced Tuesday.

Chris Sale has also been listed as the White Sox starter for next Tuesday against the Kansas City Royals.

Beyond that, little is certain about how the White Sox will align their rotation after Wednesday, when Jake Peavy faces the Minnesota Twins.

Its all over the place right now, Ventura said.

Theres a plan in place, Ventura said, but it could change easily.

Philip Humber might pitch on Friday against the Angels. But Humber is also the teams designated long man on Tuesday and Wednesday and wouldnt start against the Angels if either Francisco Liriano or Peavy needs to be bailed out.

The plan also suggests Jose Quintana could go on Sunday.

Or not.

The third day (Sunday) could be Q, Ventura said. We might come back around the next day (Monday) against KC with Q. Im just focused on today.

Sales appearance next Tuesday would come 10 days after his last start in Texas on Friday.

The White Sox want to give their first-year starter a breather after he admitted to fatigue after Friday. Sales fastball velocity averaged 90.2 mph and he topped out at 92 mph in a 109-pitch effort.

Sales average velocity for the season is 92.1 mph, according to fangraphs.com.
