Just about everyone has chimed in on Derrick Rose's eventual return from a torn ACL. Will he return this season? Should he? Is he mentally ready? Those are just a small sample of the questions pundits far and wide have tried to answer since Rose began fully participating in practice last month.
Dan Patrick took his turn on Wednesday’s edition of The Dan Patrick Show. His take? Derrick Rose must return this season.
"I don't know how much, but at least try it. Just see it how it feels," said Patrick. "I know you can't have it in a controlled situation in a game, but he needs to at least understand what he needs to do in the offseason."
His reasoning is sound--returning to game action this season allows Rose to build a frame of reference for how close he truly is to returning to MVP form. But If Rose doesn't return this season, as Patrick puts it, "He's going to go through the entire offseason with the same question mark."
Despite overtures from Waka Flocka Flame, we know the return isn't coming tonight against the Miami Heat (which you can catch on Comcast SportsNet with coverage starting at 5:00 with SportsTalk Live). We also know that the questions will linger until "the return" comes to fruition.
