Jimmy Butler took a huge step for the Bulls in summer league play in 2012, this season second-year guard Marquis Teague is following in his teammate's footsteps.
Teague scored 25 points to lead the Bulls (3-0) to an, 80-78, overtime victory over the Portland Trail Blazers (0-3) Tuesday night. The former Kentucky guard drained all three three-pointers he took and shot 7-for-14 from the field. He also added three assists.
Andrew Goudelock, coming off 31 and 26 point performances, only scored 11 points on 4-for-13 shooting in just under 36 minutes of play.
First-rounder Tony Snell had his best showing thus far in Las Vegas. He scored 14 points to go along with six rebounds and four assists.
Rookie Erik Murphy (10 points) displayed some toughness that could make him an instant fan favorite in Chicago. The former Gator broke his nose on a putback in the first half, but finished the play. He even hustled to get back on defense - something head coach Tom Thibodeau will love - before leaving the game.
After setting a summer league record with 22 points in Monday's victory, Malcolm Thomas was given the night off by Adrian Griffin.
Portland guard C.J. McCollum lead all scorers on the night with 27 points, despite only shooting 8-for-25 from the field.
Thomas Robinson, who was rumored to be a Bulls target in the offseason, had a double-double with 12 points and 18 rebounds.
Each team will be re-seeded 1-22 to start the tournament portion of summer league play beginning later this week.
