Bulls' Noah, Butler recognized by NBA for their defense

Bulls All-Star center Joakim Noah, the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year, was awarded first team All-Defensive Team honors for the second consecutive season, while teammate Jimmy Butler garnered a second team All-Defensive Team nod, the league announce Monday.

Noah, the leading vote-getter by a wide margin — receiving 105 first-team votes and 223 overall points in the balloting process — is joined on the first team by Clippers point guard Chris Paul, Pacers small forward Paul George, Thunder power forward Serge Ibaka and Warriors swingman Andre Iguodala.

In addition to Butler, who received 29 first-team votes, the other members of the second team are Heat small forward LeBron James, Chicago native Patrick Beverley of the Rockets, Spurs small forward Kawhi Leonard and Pacers center Roy Hibbert.

Bulls sixth man Taj Gibson and veteran floor general Kirk Hinrich each received two first-team votes.
