NEW YORK—The Bulls have signed point guard D.J. Augustin to a non-guaranteed contract for the pro-rated veteran’s minimum, a league source told CSNChicago.com.

Augustin cleared waivers Wednesday afternoon and agreed to terms with the Bulls after being waived Monday by Toronto, following the Raptors’ trade Sunday with Sacramento.

A 6-foot point guard in his sixth NBA season, Augustin is slated to take a physical Thursday in Chicago and could be in a Bulls’ uniform as soon as Saturday’s home game against his old team, the Raptors, ironically.

“That’s a Gar [Forman, the Bulls’ general manager]-John [Paxson, the Bulls’ executive vice president] question. They’re always looking, that’s what they do. If there is someone that we can add that can help, they’ll look at it,” Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau said before the team took on the Knicks, when asked about pending roster moves. “If it makes sense we’ll do it. As I said, I’m locked into the guys that we have in that locker room, I love the guys we have in that locker room, and I do think we have more than enough, and we’re going to keep grinding.”

Yahoo! Sports first reported Augustin’s signing.
