After missing five consecutive games with a flare-up of his left Achilles’ injury, Luol Deng will return to the Bulls’ lineup Tuesday, as they host Toronto at the United Center on New Year’s Eve.
Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau wouldn’t say if there would be a minutes restriction on the All-Star small forward.
“We’ll see once he gets out there how he looks,” the coach said.
With the exception of point guards Derrick Rose and Marquis Teague—the latter is on an assignment with the Iowa Energy, the Bulls’ D-League affiliate—Thibodeau has a full roster complement to utilize against the Raptors, who are much improved since trading volume scorer Rudy Gay.
“I think it’s big. You’re getting back to being at full strength,” Thibodeau explained. “You have Jo, who is in rhythm now. Carlos and Taj have done a very good job all season. Jimmy is starting to get his rhythm. I think Kirk and D.J. are comfortable at the point. Mike Dunleavy has been solid throughout. Now we have some quality depth. Tony did a good job with the minutes that he had. Naz has been solid. But it’s the depth and getting your starting unit back together is huge.”
