Marquis Teague’s D-League career was over before it even started.

The Bulls made an announcement Tuesday morning that they were assigning the second-year point guard to the Iowa Energy, but according to a person with knowledge of the situation, Teague will be at the Berto Center for practice Wednesday morning.

Coincidentally, veteran point guard Mike James suffered a minor knee injury and sidelined in the short term, meaning Teague will reprise his role as the Bulls’ second-string point guard behind fill-in starter Kirk Hinrich for the time being.

James is expected to miss a week with a sprained MCL. The injury occurred in pregame warm-ups Monday, prior to the Bulls’ triple-overtime loss to the Pelicans at the United Center.

Teague's recall from the minor-league affiliate was first reported by the Chicago Tribune.
