Bulls legend and Bobcats owner Michael Jordan joined a large group of NBA owners, players and former players supporting NBA commissioner Adam Silver's decision Tuesday to ban Clippers owner Donald Sterling for life from the NBA in the wake of Sterling's racially charged comments that came to light this weekend.
Here's Jordan's statement from the Bobcats:
"I applaud NBA Commissioner Adam Silver's swift and decisive response today. He sent a powerful message that there can be zero tolerance for racism and hatred in the NBA. I'm confident that the league, our players and our fans will move on from this stronger and more unified."
This statement follows Jordan's statement on Sunday responding to Sterling's comments.
Many players of Jordan's era — including Lakers legend and Los Angeles Dodgers owner Magic Johnson — as well as fellow owners have responded similarly. Bulls chairman Jerry Reinsdorf released his own statement supporting the commissioner's decision.
