There were many NBA players and employees with ties to Chicago on hand for The Second Annual Peace Basketball Tournament in Chicago on Saturday.

The tournament was created last year in order to bring rival gang members together to battle on the basketball court, instead of the streets of Chicago. St. Sabina’s Church gymnasium in Chicago hosted the event.

Bulls All-Star center Joakim Noah was present for the tournament and also reiterated the tournament’s significance.

“This tournament is one of the most powerful things I’ve done in my career,” Noah said. “I brought my mother and friends here from New York because I think this is something that is very important, I’m very happy to do this. The tournament is much bigger than the game of basketball.”
