As good as Derrick Rose has looked in two preseason games, Taj Gibson's performances have been most impressive. Through three games -- including Saturday's 18 point effort -- Gibson has averaged 17.0 points, 8.6 rebounds and 2.6 blocks while shooting a scorching 70 percent from the field.
And Saturday in Brazil, Gibson scored two of his most impressive points this preseason with a thunderous dunk over Washington's Bradley Beal and Kevin Seraphin.
Late in the first quarter Marquis Teague moved the ball across the timeline and found rookie Tony Snell on the left wing. Snell made a bounce pass to Gibson, who was waiting on the baseline. Gibson took two steps and slammed the ball home with one hand, giving the Bulls an early 21-10 lead.
Bulls color commentator Stacey King said the play was an indication that Gibson, who was dinged up most of last season, is back and ready to play an important role in the Bulls rotation.
"What I like about Taj is he's healthy," King said. "And how he's answered the critics; he's come back this preseason, he's worked on his game, he worked out with Derrick Rose in the summertime, and he's playign with extreme confidence and that gives Tom Thibodeau a lot confidence that he can run plays for Taj this year in the post.
