Dwyane Wade made an appearance in Chicago on Monday to announce that he has signed a deal...with The Tie Bar. The three-time NBA champion has agreed to design his own line of neckwear for the Chicago-based company. His products will be available online at TheTieBar.com beginning in November.
Bulls fans might be familiar with Wade's fashion style during his trip to the United Center in last season's playoffs. The Miami superstar entered the building wearing a polka dotted capri pantsuit and loafers.
"Yeah, I mix it up. It was a shock to people," he said. "It's just a time where we're doing things a little different with our styles. I'm enjoying it."
Even though Wade plays in Miami, he still considers Chicago to be his first home. "I love it [in Miami] but Chicago is where I'm from," he said. "This is always going to be my city."
Chicago may in fact be Wade's first home, but when it comes to basketball, being number one in this city while wearing a Heat uniform is far out of his favor. Entering this season, Miami's focus is just like every other team, including the Bulls.
"We're coming into this season trying to win a championship. That's our focus just like the Bulls," he said. "Even though we've won the past two years, that doesn't guarantee us anything. We have to focus on what we need to do to try and get there again."
The Bulls will tip-off their 2013 season on Oct. 29 in Miami against the defending champions, where Derrick Rose will return to the court for the first time since tearing his ACL in the 2012 playoffs.
