Kyle Long is one big step closer to spending his entire career in Chicago.

The Bears officially announced Long's four-year extension Wednesday in a deal that would keep the Pro Bowl offensive lineman with the organization through the 2021 if carried out in full.

The Bears made Long the No. 20 overall pick in 2013 and he has since started 47 games, including 31 at right guard and 16 at right tackle.

He became the seventh Bears player to be named to the Pro Bowl in each of his first three seasons.

"Kyle is extremely talented, a great teammate and more than deserving of this contract," Bears GM Ryan Pace said in a statement. "He is a big piece of the foundation we are building and we only expect him to continue to get better.

"We are excited to announce this long-term committment to Kyle."

After an up-and-down season at right tackle last year, the Bears are moving Long back inside to guard, with veteran free agent acquisition Bobby Massie manning the tackle spot.

The deal is worth a reported $40 million with $30 million guaranteed.
