The Bears will head into Sunday night's game against the Dallas Cowboys with quarterback Matt Barkley active.

With Jay Cutler slated to miss the contest due to a thumb injury, veteran Bryan Hoyer will work as the No. 1 QB and Barkley is likely to be his backup.

Barkley - the former USC standout - has appeared in four NFL games, but has not yet started a contest. He threw for 300 yards with four interceptions and zero TDs with the 2013 Philadelphia Eagles, but has attempted only one pass the last two years.

In college, Barkley tallied 116 passing touchdowns, six rushing TDs and 12,327 passing yards in four years at USC.

The Bears also signed fullback Paul Lasike to the practice squad.

Lasike appeared in Monday night's game against the Eagles and picked up two yards on a carry.

Meanwhile, Lamarr Houston was officially placed on injured reserve after tearing his ACL Monday night.

Houston was the Bears' leading sacker in 2015 with a career high-eight.
