Bears waive fullback Paul Lasike

The fullback experiment in Chicago is over for now.

The Bears announced on Tuesday they have waived fullback Paul Lasike.

Lasike, 26, played in both games with the Bears this season. He carries the ball one time for two yards, and was used sparingly against both the Houston Texans (19 snaps) and Philadelphia Eagles (5 snaps).

The move creates an open spot on the Bears' 53-man roster, which could be used to elevate backup quarterback Matt Barkley from the practice squad with Jay Cutler expected to time with a sprained thumb.

With a rash of injuries on Monday, this appears to be the first of several moves before the Bears head to Dallas for a Week 3 matchup against the Cowboys.
