Briggs: Bears-Green Bay is the Bears season

The visit to Lambeau Field Sunday night for their date with the Green Bay Packers is essentially the Bears season, according to one of their leaders.

Its more than taking a stand in the rivalry, said linebacker Lance Briggs. Its more taking a stand on the season.

This is the Bears playoffs.

Green Bay lost a game and a perfect season last weekend at Kansas City. But the Bears have lost their season, one game at a time over the last four, and with that has gone any realistic chance to make the actual playoffs.

That in fact was an underlying goal for this team, which already had lost to Green Bay in Week 3 and was resigned to not catching the Packers before the end of the regular season.

Just as Green Bay leapfrogged the Bears last postseason, the Bears would like to repay the experience. Records like 13-1 and 7-7 dont matter.

Indeed, the Bears went 13-3 in 2001. Their only two losses after opening day were to the Packers.

There have been times where weve been terrible and theyve been really good and we beat them, said linebacker Brian Urlacher. Weve been good, theyve been bad, they beat us. It doesnt really matter. It doesnt matter this week either.

2017 NFL Draft Profile: UCLA OLB Takkarist McKinley

As part of our coverage leading up to the 2017 NFL Draft we will provide profiles of more than 100 prospects, including a scouting report and video interviews with each player.

Takkarist McKinley, OLB, UCLA

6'2" | 250 lbs.

2016 stats:

61 tackles, 18 TFL, 10 sacks, 6 PD, 3 FF

Projection:

First round

Scouting Report:

"Ascending edge prospect who racked up impressive TFL and sack numbers this year despite a relatively raw approach and skill set. He's a little stiff in his lower body, but flashes good athleticism once the ball is snapped. McKinley's motor is a translatable characteristic, but improved hand usage and pass rush mechanics are what could elevate his game to another level as a starting, 3-4 outside linebacker. " — Lance Zierlein, NFL.com

2017 NFL Draft Profile: California QB Davis Webb

As part of our coverage leading up to the 2017 NFL Draft we will provide profiles of more than 100 prospects, including a scouting report and video interviews with each player.

Davis Webb, QB, California

6'5" | 229 lbs.

2016 stats:

4,295 YDS, 61.6 CMP%, 37 TD, 12 INT, 135.6 QBR

Projection:

Day 3

Scouting Report:

"System quarterback with more than 65 percent of his attempts coming inside of 10 yards. Webb has enough raw talent to be considered a developmental prospect, but his decision-making and accuracy issues beyond 10 yards is a big red flag that might be tough to overcome in the NFL." — Lance Zierlein, NFL.com
