Cameron Meredith leaves game after gruesome leg injury

NASHVILLE -- Cameron Meredith suffered a gruesome-looking injury to his left knee during the first quarter of Sunday's preseason game against the Tennessee Titans, which could seriously test an already-thin Bears receiving corps.

UPDATE: On the Fox broadcast of the game, Pam Oliver reported the Bears believe Meredith tore his ACL.

Meredith caught a 16-yard pass from Mike Glennon and was awkwardly tackled, with his knee bending in awful fashion as he went down to the turf. An air cast was placed on Meredith's leg, and he was carted off the field while his teammates looked on. Meredith -- and the Bears -- can only hope the injury wasn't as serious as it looked.

Without Meredith, a greater burden would be placed on Kevin White -- who's struggled to make an impact so far this preseason -- as well as veterans like Kendall Wright and Victor Cruz. Meredith exited the game a possession after Mike Glennon engineered a magnificent 96-yard scoring drive that included a 28-yard, under-pressure completion to the Illinois State product.

Meredith, who went undrafted out of college, was the Bears' leading receiver in 2016 with 66 catches for 888 yards and four touchdowns.

The Bears have not announced an official diagnosis for Meredith's injury.
