Urlacher the Mentor: Helping Hightower 'get' the NFL

INDIANAPOLIS Based on a coaches scoring system based on production, Alabama linebacker Donta Hightower was the top achiever on an elite Crimson Tide defense.

While working out at Athletes Performance Institute in Arizona, Hightower got some perspectives from another achiever.

Brian Urlacher.

The two shared a meal and a conversation with Hightower seeking out the perennial Pro Bowler for advice on adjusting to the NFL game, which Hightower will be part of in a matter of months.

I just sat down and talked to him and I gained a lot of knowledge, Hightower said Saturday at the NFL Scouting Combine. Not just about football but about being a man, coming in and being a professional and making the transition from student-athlete professional.

James Conner, RB, Pittsburgh

6'1" | 233 lbs.

2016 stats:

216 CAR, 1,092 YDS, 16 TD | 21 REC, 302 YDS, 4 TD

Projection:

Fourth-to-fifth round

Scouting Report:

"Physical, battering-ram style runner who makes the hitting a two-way affair. Conner's lack of speed and reactive quickness could limit his role as a pro, but his heart, work ethic and ability to keep the chains moving could make him a red-zone specialist with the ability to handle some third down duties as well." — Lance Zierlein, NFL.com

2017 NFL Draft Profile: Alabama OLB Tim Williams

As part of our coverage leading up to the 2017 NFL Draft we will provide profiles of more than 100 prospects, including a scouting report and video interviews with each player.

Tim Williams, OLB, Alabama

6'3" | 244 lbs.

2016 stats:

31 tackles, 16 TFL, 9 sacks, 2 FF

Projection:

Second round

Scouting Report:

"Alabama has the type of talent and scheme on defense that can make life much easier for everyone along the front seven, but Williams has explosiveness and pass-rush talent to create his own havoc as a pass rusher regardless of what is around him. Scouts say he is lighter than his listed weight and needs to prove he can play with increased toughness in order to reach his potential. Williams' career might be as a pass-rush specialist, but he's talented enough at that endeavor to become a dangerous rush linebacker in the NFL." — Lance Zierlein, NFL.com
