Brent Seabrook out again when Blackhawks host Stars

Brent Seabrook will miss his second consecutive game when the Blackhawks face the Dallas Stars on Sunday night at the United Center.

The defenseman returned to practice on Saturday, but coach Joel Quenneville wanted to see how Seabrook was feeling on Sunday morning before making the decision. While Seabrook is close, he’s not quite ready. He could be ready, however, for Tuesday night’s game against the New York Rangers.

“I hope so,” Seabrook said. “Yeah, talk to the doctors again tonight and go over that stuff and do what I need to do to get cleared, and hopefully I’m ready to roll in New York and try to get back in the lineup and help these guys out.”

Jonathan Toews (back) skated on Sunday morning. He was already ruled out for Sunday night’s game and hopes to join the Blackhawks for their trip to New York.

“Yeah I think so. I think it’s a possibility. I’m not ruling it out and not guaranteeing anything, but today felt pretty good,” Toews said. “It’s almost just putting pressure and just trying anything that I could out there to do those uncomfortable movements, and I’m feeling pretty good right now. Obviously, we’ll see how it goes (Sunday night) and (Monday).”

Quenneville said assistant coach Kevin Dineen, whose father Bill passed away on Saturday morning, will be behind the bench tonight.

The Stars are coming off a 4-2 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday afternoon. According to the Dallas Morning News, Johnny Oduya (lower body) and Jiri Hudler (illness) could return to the lineup Sunday night. Patrick Sharp, however, remains out. The former Blackhawks forward has been battling concussion symptoms.
